Europe 2010 – Day 5: Driving to Cannes

When we drove to Venice a few days earlier in this trip, I was too mesmerized by the view to take any pictures.  Never before had I seen a coastline so intriguing, and all I could do was stare.

After we left Monaco, we passed through Genoa (Genova) and went north to make a quick stop in Milan (Milano).  Sadly, we didn’t have enough time to really explore and I only took four unimpressive pictures.  After that, night began to fall and I couldn’t see anything.  But on the way back to Cannes…

We got to see some beautiful country.  I enjoyed catching glimpses of rural life in Italy, thinking that this is the way these people live their everyday lives, amongst such… awesomeness.  To them, I’m sure they think it is nothing remarkable; after all, perspective has a lot to do with how you perceive your surroundings.  But since I’m on a mission to find beauty in the ordinary, I hit the jackpot!!!!

I took pictures out of a moving vehicle, not really framing my shots or anything, and it wasn’t until I got home and uploaded them that I was able to see what I captured.  Here are some of my favorite pics, most of which are framed on my walls now.

OK.  I’ll stop.  For now.  (There’s tons more)  More than anything, I’m just so impressed with my camera’s ability to take good pictures while we were driving.  Not all the pictures are crystal clear or anything, but they are enough of a representation for me to jog some great memories.

For those of you who are interested, I didn’t do anything special as far as settings go.  This was back in the day when I didn’t know much about my camera, so I’m sure most of these were taken on Auto.

All I can say is, Nikon Rules!!!
