Hawaii, June/July 2012, Day 2, Part 2

After we left Pearl Harbor, we took a road trip to the North Shore. Armed only with a map and a camera, we found a quintessential, low-key Hawaiian beach that we had only dreamed of before.

The rocks were wicked sharp, and beautiful, and demanded our attention as we walked along the shore.

I have the idea that people were living in the tents on the beach, because there were more than just the one I captured in that picture.

We left the beach and drove back to our hotel by hugging the coastline as closely as we could. This made for some fascinating weather phenomena.

The last gem we discovered before heading back to our hotel on Waikiki Beach was this view of Mokoli’i Island from the quiet grounds of Kualoa Regional Park.
